Welcome

On April 26, 2017, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Office of Environmental Management (OEM) granted Location and Design Concept Acceptance for the US 27 Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study in south Polk County.

The 19-mile study involved US 27 from the Highlands County line to north of State Road (SR) 60, including the interchange at SR 60. The study determined the engineering and environmental effects of widening this segment of US 27 to a six-lane divided highway.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by FDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. §327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 14, 2016 and executed by the Federal Highway Administration and FDOT.
